![]() The beta and stable releases have a wider variety of data sets than the production releases. The latest stable release is version 5.16.0, which was released on April 27, 2009. The current production release (X.0.0) is version 5.0, which was released in 2004. Updates of the latest beta (X.X.X) are available almost weekly, with a number of stable (X.X.0) releases every year. This support was later removed and version 4.0.0 became entirely OGL compliant, though data sets for some of the missing products were made available again later, under license. Early versions of the software provided data sets for Wizards of the Coast products that were not released under the Open Game License (OGL). PCGen is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License. Character sheets can be generated in XML, HTML, or PDF and support a number of different layouts. It will let you create a character under a system of rules, track its levels and abilities as you progress, inventory and spells. It works on Windows, Mac & Linux, basically anywhere the Java JDK works. Support for different d20 products is provided via plain-text data files, which can be customized. PCGen is a program designed to create and manage player characters in pen & paper games like D&D. The product was originally Windows-specific, but since verison 2.0 will run on any machine supporting the Java run-time environment. ![]()
